About the Conference

International Conference EXAVER UV-LAALTA 2027

The field of language assessment has undergone significant transformations in recent decades, particularly in relation to the development of assessment literacy, the incorporation of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, and increasing attention to equality, diversity, and inclusion in assessment practices with educational and social consequences.

In this context, there is a growing need for academic spaces to promote critical discussion of these developments from situated perspectives, especially in regions characterized by extensive linguistic, sociocultural, and institutional diversity such as Latin America.

The EXAVER UV - LAALTA International Conference 2027 is conceived as an initiative aimed at strengthening regional and international academic dialogue on language assessment by promoting discussion of theoretical, methodological, and applied approaches that respond to current challenges in the field across educational levels and sociolinguistic contexts.

Organized by the Universidad Veracruzana, through the EXAVER English Language Proficiency Tests and Language Assessment Program, in collaboration with the Latin American Association for Language Testing and Assessment (LAALTA), the conference seeks to contribute to the development of specialized academic communities in language assessment across Latin America and to foster exchange among researchers, language teachers, test developers, policy specialists, and professionals working in the field.

The conference also aims at promoting reflection on the role of language assessment in multilingual and pluricultural contexts, particularly on the interaction between international frameworks of reference, their regional sociolinguistic realities, and the implications for teaching, certification, and educational decision-making.
